Summerfield, NC Real Estate

The town of Summerfield is a small, but fast growing and popular suburb of Greensboro, North Carolina. Located in the Northwest area of Guilford County, in the Piedmont Triad area of the state Summerfield was originally known as Bruce’s Cross Roads. The area was named after Charles Bruce, a Revolutionary War Leader in the 1780s. The town of Summerfield was incorporated in 1996 and within the next 3.5 years it grew from approximately 2,000 residents to over 6,000 residents. Today, Summerfield has a population of over 7,600 people.

Summerfield has an active Town Council and Parks and Recreation Department. The Town Council has developed a Land Use plan allowing for planned developments with open spaces (OSRD) while still maintaining the rural character of the town. In 2006 the Summerfield Community Park opened. This beautiful 50-acre park includes walking trails, a fishing pond and picnic shelters, with indoor- and outdoor-classroom areas.

Summerfield celebrates its founding with an annual Founders Day Parade and Festival at the local Elementary School. It is usually held the Saturday before Mother’s Day and is jointly sponsored by the Town, the Elementary School Parent Teacher Association and the Summerfield Youth Council. The Festival can boast it has the longest parade in Guilford County with a big turnout of spectators for the event. This sense of community is felt throughout Summerfield, making it one of the most desirable places to live in Guilford County.
